Building on the success of The Capital Network’s annual Fast Track Boot Camp for Entrepreneurs, this Life Science Fast Track is an intensive, interactive full-day seminar designed to provide entrepreneurs and innovators an in-depth understanding of what it takes to raise early stage capital for a life science startup.

Sometimes you have to slow down to speed up. Do you have a product that fills an unmet need? Learn if it’s also feasible as a company. You’ll leave this panel with a Feasibility Checklist to identify your user need and what stage your company is in.

The Mentor/Mentee lunch session is an opportunity for the Boot Camp entrepreneurs to ask questions and receive advice from experienced entrepreneurs, strategic professionals, or early stage investors and who are active supporters of New England’s entrepreneurial community. The lunch will be structured for 3 entrepreneurs to be matched and eat lunch with 1 entrepreneurship expert. In addition to the educational learning the Mentor/Mentee lunch will help foster community to provide networking and communication support, and to accelerate the success of New England’s innovation economy.

2:00 pm – 3:00 Building Your IP Strategy

A discussion to about strategies and techniques proven to be effective to add value to early stage life science companies. This interactive small group setting provides an opportunity to learn about IP basics, strategies for building an IP portfolio, and the role of IP in corporate transactions. Learn how these IP assets play a role in the value of a company, and how they impact the success a company will have in its capital raising efforts. IP broadly encompasses many different types of corporate assets. Businesses in any industry must be aware of the ways in which the company’s future success can be enhanced by an appreciation of IP and its strategic use.

3:00 -3:45 Understanding Term Sheets

As an entrepreneur, understanding the parts of an Angel or Venture Capital term sheet can be a daunting task. The session discusses common practices and pitfalls surrounding the use of term sheets and the current market terms for early-stage angel and venture investments. Some sample term sheets will be reviewed and explained.

So you have built an amazing early stage life science company. Now you need to explain it. This panel will cover how to concisely communicate a company’s value proposition to investors in a variety of formats including the elevator pitch, an angel presentation and a VC meeting.
