THE CAPITAL NETWORK ANNOUNCES SPRING 2020 FEMALE FOUNDER FELLOWS

BOSTON, MA, March 18 2020 — The Capital Network (TCN) is proud to announce its Spring 2020 Female Founders Fellowship winners!

Selected by active investors, mentors & ecosystem builders, 14 promising female founders make up our 8th cohort for the Female Founder Fellowship. This 6 month long program provides first-time female entrepreneurs building early-stage companies with the education, mentorship and network critical to raising Seed Capital.

For the second time, we we have also added a Community Fellowship, which aims to create more synergy between organizations that support early-stage founders. By giving these organizations access to our network and programming they will be able to create more connections and resources for their community, while giving us the opportunity to amplify the good work they do. This year’s Community Fellowship recipient is Sherina McKinley Director of The Runway Project! Past recipient of the Community Fellowship includes Lauren Abda, Founder of Branchfood.

Our past fellows are also making an impact! Did you know that since our initial launch in 2016 - our fellows have raised over $12.5M+!. This would not have been possible without the support from investors, community members, companies and organizations such as: SBA, Cooley, Wolf & Co, Countsy, CBRE, Banking On Green, and LearnLaunch.

“TCN provides entrepreneurs with education about the fundraising process, and the realities surrounding raising capital and/or giving out equity. It’s clear, based on the statistics, that we need to create more authentic connections and conversations between female founders and investors. With as little as 4% of total VC deals, womxn founders and founders of color face a much much more difficult road in fundraising than male founders.
Our fellowship is designed to connect these founders with diverse backgrounds and businesses to each other - for collaboration, moral support and business support - but also to connect them to our wider network. TCN has spent 25+ years building and supporting this ecosystem and we want our fellows – including those who have not taken part in accelerators or who are not linked with prestigious institutions - to build confidence and readiness and be able to access all the mentors, investors and experienced entrepreneurs in this community.”
