The Capital Network is partnering with the City of Cambridge Community Development to bring you Start It Up! An online event to help support early-stage entrepreneurs and founders based in Cambridge, MA who are at the seed stage looking to scale up.

This event is particularly for startups and entrepreneurs in the fields of: high tech, life science, consumer products, and clean energy. You’ll learn about the different funding options that are good for your business and growth stage. You’ll meet with investors, funding experts and fellow entrepreneurs that can support you along your journey.

You’ll Learn: Options for Funding - Find out what types of funding are a good fit for your business and stage and what opportunities exist across Boston’s funding landscape.

You’ll Connect: Meet with Investors, Funding Experts, Entrepreneurs that can support you along your startup’s journey.

  • A resource guidebook to help you understand what organizations and opportunities are at your disposal in Cambridge and beyond.
  • Dictionary for Startups, a glossary of terms and definitions commonly used by entrepreneurs, investors, entrepreneurship organization and others in the startup ecosystem
  • A Funding Options Overview document to help you understand the pros & cons of different types of funding for your business & stage

10:10 - 11:30 Moderated Panel: Get Your Startup Funded - What Are Your Options?

Grants, Loans, Angel Groups, Venture Capital, Crowdfunding … Experts will compare and contrast the many ways you can fund your startup. The discussion will address common questions including:

  • What are the best funding options for growing my business?
  • At what stage should I go after external funding?
  • How much money should I look for?
  • What metrics or milestones do I need to show to ask for funding?
  • Does ‘NO’ from investor mean ‘maybe later?’

11:35 - 11:55 Breakout Room Deep Dives

You will be able to join different breakout rooms covering different types of funding. It’s your opportunity to learn more about the specific funding types, ask your questions, get feedback from the funding experts, and network with fellow entrepreneurs.
