Unique Challenges for Life Science Entrepreneurs

What specific challenges do life science, medical and healthcare entrepreneurs face in raising capital? How can you address and deal with these challenges? This panel discussion, featuring an entrepreneur, an investor, and a lawyer will give an overview of today’s challenges for life science entrepreneurs and set the stage for the day’s program.

 

How Do You Know If You Have a Company?

So you have a product, but how do you know if you should start a company? What are the benefits of starting a company instead of building a product? This panel will feature an entrepreneur and a VC, and will explore the difference between creating a medical device or product and a life science company, and the fundraising and liability implications for each. The panel will focus on determining the market for your product as well as the benefits and challenges of starting a virtual company.

Developing Your IP Strategy

This panel discussion will highlight how to approach negotiating and leveraging interests in intellectual property. Hear from a panel of seasoned technology licensing officers, entrepreneurs, legal professionals and investors on the importance of strategically approaching IP ownership and deployment.

Operational Issues to Get Your Company Up and Running

Life Science entrepreneurs face unique challenges in operationalizing their companies. This session will review the alphabet soup of important players that every life science entrepreneur should know and what role they play in your start-up. A panel of experts will also discuss reimbursing your employees and developing a strategy for building and managing industry partnerships.


Entrepreneur-Advisor Matching Lunch Session

The Entrepreneur-Advisor matching lunch session is an opportunity for the Boot Camp entrepreneurs to ask questions and receive advice from experienced entrepreneurs, strategic professionals, or early stage investors and who are active supporters of New England’s entrepreneurial community. The lunch will be structured for 3 entrepreneurs to be matched and eat lunch with 1 entrepreneurship expert. In addition to the educational learning, the Entrepreneur-Advisor lunch will help foster community to provide networking and communication support, and to accelerate the success of New England’s innovation economy.

 

The Pitch: How to Tell a Clear and Compelling Story

Whether you’re launching a small product or a large company, you will only be successful in raising capital if you can tell your story in a clear and compelling way. Through an interactive concluding panel discussion with leading New England entrepreneurs,attendees willlearn how to maximize their chances of identifying the right investors and securing the capital they need to grow their business.You will learn how to create an "Elevator Pitch" and what to include in their "Investment Deck".
